Job Description
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Accommodate hotel, motel, and resort patrons by registering and assigning rooms to guests, issuing room keys or cards, transmitting and receiving messages, keeping records of occupied rooms and guests' accounts, making and confirming reservations, and presenting statements to and collecting payments from departing guests. Greet guests at the front desk and assist with check in and check out. Answer guest inquiries in a friendly and helpful manner, directs guests to the appropriate locations. Provide friendly and courteous telephone manners to guests and co-workers. Maintain knowledge about functions going on inside the hotel and information that may be needed to pass along to guests. Adjust errors and correct discrepancies on guest accounts. Take actions to handle a complaint or concern of a guest. Involve Management when appropriate. Front desk is also responsible for laundry- must be able to stand for 8 hours. Advise housekeeping staff when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning. Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, guest registration, and travel directions, or make recommendations regarding shopping, dining, or entertainment. Arrange tours, taxis, or restaurant reservations for customers. Compute bills, collect payments, and make change for guests. Contact housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems. Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests of hotels or motels. Keep records of room availability and guests' accounts, manually or using computers. Make and confirm reservations. Perform bookkeeping activities, such as balancing accounts and conducting nightly audits. Post charges, such as those for rooms, food, liquor, or telephone calls, to ledgers, manually or by using computers. Plan, schedule or supervise the work of other employees. Record guest comments or complaints, referring customers to managers as necessary. Review accounts and charges with guests during the check out process. Transmit and receive messages, using telephones or telephone switchboards. Verify customers' credit, and establish how the customer will pay for the accommodation. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Previous customer service and computer experience helpful. Must have excellent communication skills. Basic reading and math skills. Ability to understand and carry out instructions Must be able to maintain a professional manner under stress. Must have the ability to stand for 8 hours, and do light cleaning/laundry as necessary. Must be punctual & reliable Previous hotel experience a plus!
